The Crooked Oak Public Schools' Mission, Vision, and Core Values are the fundamental principles guiding their educational approach, shaping everything from curriculum to school culture. They are a roadmap for student development and community impact.

Mission: Empowering Students with PRIDE
The mission, "At Crooked Oak, our mission is to empower every student to embody PRIDE: Prepared, Respectful, guided by Integrity, Driven, and Enthusiastic," defines the school's core purpose: student empowerment and character development. It moves beyond academics to foster essential life skills. This mission directly influences daily educational practices, ensuring every lesson and interaction contributes to these five key traits. It's the "what" and "why" of Crooked Oak's education.

Vision: PRIDE-ful Students Shaping the Future
The vision, "We envision Crooked Oak Public Schools as a community where PRIDE-ful students lead, learn, and succeed, shaping a brighter future for all," paints a picture of the school's long-term aspirations and desired societal impact. It highlights key educational goals:

Lead: Developing leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Learn: Emphasizing a lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

Succeed: Pointing to academic achievement and readiness for future endeavors.

Shaping a brighter future for all: Stressing the development of citizens who contribute positively to society.

This vision guides strategic planning and curriculum to create well-rounded individuals and impact the broader community. It's the "where we're going" in education.

Core Values: PRIDE in Action
These values are the behavioral blueprints for realizing the mission and vision daily, influencing every decision and interaction.

Prepared to Lead: This informs curriculum and instruction. It means fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-management, preparing students for academic challenges, careers, and civic engagement. Classroom activities encourage initiative and collaboration.

Respectful in Action: This is crucial for a positive and inclusive school culture. It promotes empathy, active listening, and valuing diversity. In education, it translates to teaching social-emotional skills, fostering belonging, and ensuring all voices are heard.

Integrity: This underpins academic honesty and ethical conduct. It means teaching truthfulness, responsible decision-making, and accountability. It impacts policies on cheating, promotes fair play, and builds trust within the school community.

Driven to Succeed: This directly relates to student motivation and perseverance. It involves fostering a growth mindset and resilience through constructive feedback and celebrating effort. It encourages a strong work ethic, pushing students and staff to achieve their full potential.

Enthusiastic Every Step of the Way: This focuses on fostering a love of learning and engagement. It promotes curiosity, creativity, and a positive outlook on challenges. It means designing engaging lessons and celebrating achievements to make learning enjoyable and inspire a lifelong passion for knowledge.

In essence, Crooked Oak's mission, vision, and values form a comprehensive framework for their educational approach, defining their purpose, outlining their aspirations, and guiding their daily actions to ensure a holistic and impactful experience for every student.

Dear Parents, Why do students get out early every Friday? It’s not so teachers can leave early—teachers stay on campus working together in what we call “Professional Learning Communities” or PLCs.

Think of your child’s teachers like a team of coaches. On early release Fridays, they:
*Share best strategies* – If a teacher finds a great way to teach something, they share it with others.
*Solve problems together* – Teachers work as a team to help students who may be struggling.
* Learn new skills* – From technology to new teaching methods, teachers use this time to grow professionally.
*Review student progress* – Teachers look at student data to plan how to support each child.

This time directly benefits your child with:
- Better teaching
- Stronger support
- More engaging lessons
- A focus on every student’s success

We know early release can be an adjustment, but it’s truly an investment in your child’s learning. Thank you for your support!
