As required by Title 25, Oklahoma Statutes Section 311, notice is hereby given that the Board of Education of Independent School District No. 53, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma will hold a Regular Meeting Monday, June 14th at 6:00 p.m. The place and street address of the meeting will be the Board of Education Conference Room, Administration Building, 1901 S.E. 15th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73129.

Discuss then vote to approve or disapprove discussion regarding using Smoothwall for our technology protection measure (Internet filtering software) Smoothwall protects against access by adults and minors to visual depictions that are obscene, child pornography, or-with respect to use of computers with Internet access by minors-harmful to minors. It may be disable for adults engaged in bona fide research or other lawful purposes. Our district policy includes monitoring the online activities of minors:
a. access by minors to inappropriate matter on the Internet and World Wide Web.
b. the safety and security of minors when using electronic mail, chat rooms, and other forms of direct electronic communications:
c. unauthorized access, including so-called “hacking,” and other lawful activities by minors online;
d. unauthorized disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal information regarding minors; and
e. measures designed to restrict minors’ access to materials harmful to minors.
